The Snake Plant Boncel (Sansevieria cylindrica ‘Boncel’), also known as Starfish Snake Plant, is a unique and compact variety admired for its thick, cylindrical leaves arranged in a fan-like shape. Plant Care:
1. Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates low-light conditions well. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight.
2. Watering:
Water only when the soil is completely dry. Like other snake plants, Boncel stores water in its leaves and is highly drought-tolerant. Overwatering can cause root rot.
3. Temperature:
Prefers temperatures between 18°C to 32°C. Protect from temperatures below 10°C and cold drafts.
4. Humidity:
Adapts easily to normal indoor humidity levels. No misting required.
5. Soil:
Use well-draining sandy or succulent potting mix to prevent water retention.
6. Fertilization:
Feed lightly with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 6–8 weeks during spring and summer.
7. Pruning & Maintenance:
Remove damaged or soft leaves at the base. Avoid cutting healthy leaves, as they do not regrow from cut tips.
8. Repotting:
Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound.
